News How Does Cenobamate Compare with Third-Generation Anti-Seizure Medications in Terms of Cost-Effectiveness?

The main goal of epilepsy treatment is to achieve seizure freedom without unacceptable side effects of therapy. Despite the benefits of the latest generation of anti-seizure medications (ASMs), approximately 40% of patients suffer from drug-resistant epilepsy. The recently approved cenobamate brings new hope to patients. A Spanish pharmacoeconomic study aimed to compare the cost-effectiveness of cenobamate with selected third-generation ASMs as adjunctive therapy in patients with drug-resistant focal epilepsy.

News Genetic Testing in Clinical Practice – An Irreplaceable Tool in Prevention, Diagnosis and Treatment

Genetic testing has long ceased to be the privilege of clinical research. In practice, it is commonly used for screening, diagnosis, and prognosis determination in diseases with an evident genetic component, and subsequently for tailoring pharmacotherapy to the individual patient. The richest experience with genetic testing belongs to reproductive medicine and the field of prenatal diagnostics, as well as pediatrics associated with rare disease medicine and oncology. Today, the significance of testing is becoming apparent in internal medicine and psychiatry as well.

News Evaluation of Treatment Response in CLL

The size of lymph nodes, liver, spleen, blood cell counts, systemic symptoms... Changes in these indicators provide clear information on whether the disease of chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) has progressed, stabilized, or if the patient has achieved partial or complete remission after therapy. An even deeper insight into what has happened at the cellular level in the human body is provided by the evaluation of minimal residual disease (MRD). Why is it meaningful to search for the remaining leukemic cells? How to identify them, in what material, and when? And is the information about MRD truly useful for all types and lines of treatment? The answers to these questions, along with other current data and information on the topic, are brought by the following presentation.
