COMPLICATED UROINFECTIONS: WHAT IS NEW AND WHAT HAS CHANGED

Overview

Complicated infections of urinary tract are defined as accute or chronic parenchymal infections, connected with functional or structural abnormalities. They include especially infections of urinary tract, derivation operations on urinary tract with enteric reservoir, urine infections at vesicouretheral reflux, chronic bacterial prostatitis, urine infections generally bound to the presence of catheter in urinary tract, infections connected with transplantations of kidney and uremia. The complicating factors of urine infections are diabetes mellitus, patient in immunocompromised condition and urine infections of seniors. It is especially certain change of tactics of antibiotic treatment which may be recorded in the therapy of complicated uroinfections. It is usually preferred to use rather sufficiently high therapeutic dose and it is usually recommended to weigh up long-term administration and when it makes sense.
