Overview

In this study a sample of 47 patients with periprosthetic fractures of femur was evaluated after implantation of full endoprosthesis of hip joint. In a typical fracture we used Duncan´s classification and procedure for dealing with a single type of break and we compared the results according to Duncan´s algorithm. We evaluated the classification and analysed risk factors for peroperational and postsurgical periprosthetic fractures and estimated the percent in our patient sample. Further we introduced a procedure for resolving postoperational and peroperational periprosthetic fractures of femur as well as look at possibilities of prophylaxis against fractures. For practical evaluation of individual stages of treatment we used the Harris Hip Score.

Key words:
total endoprosthesis, periprothetic fracture, therapeutic steps.
