Overview

The article describes the history, aetiology and clinical picture of the KISS (kinematic imbalance due to suboccipital strain) syndrome and presents a set of symptoms occurring in dysfunction and blockage of the upper cervical spine vertebrae in infants. The term KISS indicates kinematic imbalance due to suboccipital stress. An imbalance of mobility, caused by dysfunction in the area of the cervical vertebrae due to increased tension, can result in disorders of the symmetry of head mobility. Targeted physiotherapeutic intervention for the KISS syndrome leads to the normalization of the craniovertebral joint functional disorder and to the harmonization of head mobility and trunk posture.
