Locomotor System and Its Participation in Migraines

Overview

There is a striking clinical similarity between migraine and attacks of vertebrogenic headache. The number of changes in function in the motor system found in a group of 40 migraine patients may therefore be no mere coincidence. 13 of these patients were followed up for a longer period and the number of myofascial triggerpoints (TrPs) at each control examination is given in Table 1. There is usually movement restriction in the corresponding segments or joints (1, 4). A strikingly significant number of TrPs was found in the diaphragm and the pelvic floor (2, 3).
