Overview
The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of vestibular habituation training (VHT) using theNorré-Novotný (1987) method in patients with vertigo of peripheral origin and unclear aetiology.Theevaluation criteria were objective decrease in VHT score and subjective assessment of a patient’sdisability. Thirteen patients were examined and an organic origin of vertigo was excluded bya complex of neurological and otorhinolaryngological examinations and other examination methods.Evaluation of VHT was done before and after the VHT. Based on positive reactions during individualexamination of VHT a rehabilitation program was established. A patient exercises the VHT alonethree times a day for 6 weeks. After six weeks of training results showed an average decrease inVHT score of 8.46 (± 7.1) points, Wilcoxon’s test indicated highly significant decrease of VHT scoreof the whole group (p
