Overview
Eye disease is one of the rare indications for caesarean section. The article describes ocular changes during pregnancy and discusses the influence of pregnancy and delivery on three chosen diseases, especially on myopia, which is reported as the most common indication for caesarean section. The article also describes patients diagnosed from 2010 to 2013 with ocular indication for caesarean section and analyses in detail indications in the year 2012 and 2013. These indications are often based on the increase in intraocular pressure during the labor, even though no available sources confirm the risk of developing or progression of retinal detachment.
