Overview
The pair of specialists, a phoniatrist and a voice educator, refers to the algorithm of voice re-education, which has been successfully used at their workplace in patients suffering from voice disorders. It is a complex approach based on various proved and many years used techniques (the Prague phoniatric school, nasalisation, masticatory, breathing exercise etc.) which are supplemented with the authors’ own techniques. The present summary of exercises, which are directed to optimisation and harmonization of respiratory, phonation and resonance systems, are aimed at the best possible quality of voice. Since the beginning of 2003 the approach was applied in 476 patients, most frequently diagnosed as to have suffered from hyperkinetic dysphonia of adults and hyperkinetic dysphonia of the children age. The basic precondition for using this technique is, as is the case in other re-education methods, a deep concern of the patient to work with his/her own voice and personal patience, systemic nature and diligence in the independently performed of voice exercises, whereas re-education without these qualities unthinkable and meaningless in principle. The aim of the work is a precise description of the elaborated technique, not an analysis of statistical evaluation of the results in already significantly large cohort of the patients.
Key words:
voice re-education, respiration exercise, phonation exercise, voice resonance.
