Overview

S u m m a r y:
Despite advances achieved in the last decades postintubation subglottic stenosisremains a serious therapeutic problem in children. One of the possible surgical approaches isdilatation laryngotracheoplasty. The authors present in their paper their experience with postin-tubations stenosis in a 8-year-old boy. After failure of conservative treatment they performeda one-stage anterior laryngotracheoplasty with a dilatation graft of autologous cartilage from a rib.The postoperative course was complicated by a granulation process on account of which retrache-otomy had to be performed which protracted the patient’s dependence on a tracheostomic cannulaby three monhts. One and a half year after operation the boy has no respiratory complaints.

Key words:
one-stage anterior dilatation laryngotracheoplasty, postintubation subglotticstenosis.
