Overview

The authors’ first own experience with an auditory brainstem implant is presented.The 1 ABI operation in the Czech Republic and 45 th in Europe was made in a female patient withneurofibromatosis 2, on January 11, 1999. Bilateral vestibular schwannomas were removed 11 and12 years ago, respectively. The implantation itself and results are described. A history of the auditorybrainstem implant is briefly described, including the current state-of-the-art and expected benefits.
