Overview

The paper presents the evaluation of the development and causes of professional dermatoses in the Czech Republic in 1992–2004. The most frequent professional dermatosis at the follow up period was contact eczema, the most significant allergens were plastic materials, especially epoxide gum, then rubber making chemicals, crude oil products, or respective additives, chromium and other compounds. The crude oil products and cleansing utensils were the most frequent causes of irritative dermatitis. Professional dermatological infectious diseases represented 31.2 % of all professional dermatoses. Professional scabies (1375 cases) and zoonoses (981 cases) were the most frequent ones at the follow up period. Professional trichophytosis and erysipeloid were the most frequently reported zoonoses. The most professional dermatoses were reported in professionals in the 45–50 age period. The most professional dermatological diseases per 10 thousand professionals were reported in the health care system (83.6 diseases). The number of professional dermatoses is gradually decreasing in the course of 1992–2004 (495 in 1992, 195 in 2004).
