Overview

Osteoporosis is defined as a progressive systemic skeletal disease characterized by loss of bone mass (both mineral and organic components) and impaired bone microarchitecture, resulting in increased susceptibility to fractures. The most common fractures are osteoporotic fractures, especially in the forearm and vertebrae, and the most serious is a femoral neck fracture, which is the cause of death within one year of injury in about 20%. These fractures often occur after an unreasonably minor injury or even spontaneously. In the present article, the authors pay attention to the issue of osteoporosis in the context of preventive measures.
