Autor seznamuje s hlavními typy kulturně vázaných psychiatrických syndromů. Jsou to opětovné vzorce nepřiměřeného chování specifické pro určitou lokalitu, mají aberantní ráz, bývaly označovány za hysterické symptomy, dnes se hovoří o poruchách disociativních.
