Chronický únavový syndrom (dále z anglického chronic fatigue syndrome - CF5) je samostatná, přesně definovaná nemoc, která, jak se ukazuje, má zřejmě přesně imunologicky a chemicky definovanou podstatu a specifický biologický marker: stanovení fragmentů ribonukleázy L a jejich poměru k nativní ribonukleáze L v periferních mononukleárech.
