Overview

Coordinated intervention against spread of STD is getting more important considering a marked increase of HIV infection incidence in the Czech Republic in the year 2007 and epidemiologic synergy of HIV and STD. Intervention against STD also prevents HIV transmission. Article summarizes epidemiology, classification, transmission risk and prevention of STD with special interest in chlamydial infections.

Key words:
STD-risk groups – transmission risk – Chlamydia trachomatis
