Overview
The study reviews recent developments with regard to postsurgical adhesion formation, the roleof some cytokines and possible prevention. Interleukin-1beta (IL-1 beta) levels in peritoneal fluidwere assayed during 24 and 48 hours after laparoscopic or laparotomic surgery and the influenceof diclofenac was evaluated. IL-1beta levels in peritoneal fluid were substantially lower afterlaparoscopic adnexal surgery than after laparotomy. Application of diclofenac after abdominalhysterectomies reduced substantially intraperitoneal IL-1beta levels.
