Overview
The objective of the work was to verify the therapeutic effect of sensitive cervicalportions of teeth by a combination of a low efficiency Dermalaser and local application offluoride Elmex fluid. During six sessions the authors investigated the sensitivity to cold andtactile sensitivity of exposed cervical dentin in 256 teeth after provocation, and the desensitizingeffects of the applied treatment were evaluated. Combined treatment led to a reduction of thenumber of teeth hypersensitive to cold and touch and to a decline of the mean hypersensitivityvalues. The results were tested by regression analysis. The authors assessed also the mostfrequent causes of dentin exposure and the subjective satisfaction of the patient. The appliedtreatment proved effective and may become a further extension in the range of therapeuticmethods.
