Terapia hyperhomocysteinémie vitamínom B12

Výskyt miernej hyperhomocysteinémie u vegetariánov a vegánov je zapríčinený deficitomvitamínuB12. Klinickej štúdie redukcie hladín homocysteínu vitamínom B12 sa zúčastnilo 9 subjektívnezdravých alternatívne sa stravujúcich dospelých s deficitom vitamínu B12 a miernou hyperhomocysteinémiou.Terapia vitamínom B12 bola realizovaná 5 intramuskulárnymi injekciami cyanokobalamínucelkového obsahu 2200 µg počas dvoch týždňov. Hladina homocysteínu sa významneznížila (z hodnoty 22,0 µmol/l na 11,7 µmol/l; individuálny pokles o 29–55 %). Koncentrácia vitamínuB12 v krvi signifikantne stúpla (zo 152 pmol/l na 277 pmol/l, individuálne % nárastu 63–150).Výsledky dokumentujú vysoký efekt vitamínu B12 v redukcii hodnôt homocysteínu u subjektov naalternatívnom stravovaní.
