Overview

The aim of this paper is to provide basic information about a new method of examination of microcirculation by means of laser Doppler technique and it also provides a brief overview of its usage in a lot of areas. Nowadays this method is successfully used for example for monitoring of microangiopathy disorder in patients with diabetes mellitus. Laser Doppler is a sensitive modern method for evaluation of the function of small blood vessels that enables findings and evaluations of frequent pathological changes of microcirculation. This method uses a low-power laser beam or a coherent monochromatic infrared diode radiation very similar to laser. According to the type of the equipment the evaluation can be invasive or non-invasive. Invasive techniques are mainly used in plastic surgery, neurosurgery, gastroenterology and in a lot of other areas. Non-invasive techniques are most frequently used for examination of skin microcirculation [4,5]. Methodology used at our workplace is simple, fast and very comfortable not only for the patient but also for our staff. By means of this methodology the presence and severity of frequent microangiopathy disorders in various illnesses can be evaluated, furthermore the differences between vasculitis and functional disorder of blood flow at periphery can be detected. This way it gives the possibility of early intervention in prevention from serious complications or treatment of the disease. By means of this methodology our aim is to elucidate the importance of varicose veins operation for alternative improvement of lower limb blood flow on the level of microcirculation [11-14].

Key words:
