V článku se autor zabývá základními principy terapie nitrolební hypertenze spolu se současnými názory na terapeutický protokol. K základním bodům terapie nitrolební hypertenze patří: obecná opatření jako zachování normotermie, polohování hlavy, protikřečová terapie a infuzní terapie, dále tlumení a relaxace, odběry mozkomíšního moku, osmoterapie, hyperventilace, barbituráty, hypotermie a chirurgická dekomprese. Dále jsou uvedeny látky pro tuto situaci kontraindikované. Článek doplňují kapitoly týkající se terapie v kojeneckém a dětském věku spolu s jejími specifiky.
