Overview
The article presents the newly created Czech version of the Neck Disability Index (NDI). The NDI is a specific algofunctional questionnaire used for assessment of pain and disability in patients with neck pain. The first part of the paper describes the structure and the way of evaluating the results of the NDI. Next section explains the process of creating the Czech version of the NDI, whereby the methods of two independent translations and the back-translation were used. The newly established Czech version of the questionnaire was applied in our research, the aim of which was to assess the status of patients with neck pain – namely patients with cervicocranial and cervicobrachial syndromes – and subsequent mutual comparison of the two groups. The data were collected using the kinesiology examination and three questionnaire methods (including the NDI). Having compared the results of both groups of patients, the higher average total score of the NDI in patients with cervicocranial syndrome was detected. Also, in the majority of the respective sections of the questionnaire the group of patients with the cervicocranial syndrome reached the higher average values. In completing the questionnaire by patients no serious problems were noted and thus the questionnaire can be recommended for use in clinical practice.
