Overview

Malingering (conscious feigning) of hearing loss is a relatively rare phenomenon in audiology; however, it should always be considered and accounted for during assessment. We present a case report of a 19-year-old female who feigned unilateral hearing loss. Objective audiological methods and specialized tests, such as Erhardt, Lombard, Stenger, Teal, or Chimani-Moos test, can help with detection.
