The author discusses the problem of damage of the eye by noxious substances in the work environment. In the introduction hepays attention to chemical substances incl. heavy metals. Most frequently chemical burns by alkalis or acids are encountered. Firstaid during occupational injures is discussed. The subsequent part of the paper deals with the action of electromagnetic and ionizingradiation on the eye, their causes and possible health protection.
