The paper deals with the development of health insurance in the Slovak Republic from 1992 and the development of revisorymedicine. The author describes the creation of organizational, personnel, legislative and internal conditions for the work ofrevisory medicine officers in the National Insurance Company (1993) and General Health Insurance Company (from 1994 tillnow). In the final part the author discusses possible improvement of revisory activities in the General Health InsuranceCompany,in the particular as regards revision of drug prescription.
