Overview

Hand eczema is one of the most common and difficult-to-treat skin conditions in dermatologists’ offices. Regarding the etiopathophysiology, clinical picture and the course, it represents a heterogeneous and variable entity. The treatment should be chosen according to stage and severity, using a stepwise approach, including systemic medication, and always containing emolients. With research and upcoming new groups of drugs, a number of high-quality articles have been published, recently even updated European and German guidelines. For dermatologists, but also allergologists, general practitioners, pediatricians and physicians of other specialities we therefore present an overview of the current situation with commented guidelines for the diagnosis, treatment, prevention and management of hand eczema in the Czech Republic.
