Overview

Chlamydiae are ubiquitous obligate intracellular bacteria replicating in eucaryotic cells. They belong to the most common microorganisms in humans and animals and cause wide range of human and animal infections. In dermatovenereology they are important in differential diagnosis of sexually transmitted diseases (STD).
