Overview

Dermatoscopy is a modern non-invasive method of investigation broadening the potential ofcommon clinical visual examination. In dermatology, it is applied foremost in the differentialdiagnosis of pigmented skin lesions in vivo. Digitalized dermatoscopy uses computerized high-resolutionoptical equipment rendering true-colour dermatoscopical findings. Advantages of the methodare the ability to adjust the magnification in the course of examining, as well as digitalization, clearlyarranged archiving and simple comparison of dermatoscopical findings. The apparatuses usuallyenable an automatic digitalized analysis of selected lesions. The authors present their initialexperience with the application of digitalized dermatoscopy as an above-standard method in theinvestigation of difficult from the diagnostic point of view melanocytic as well as non-melanocyticlesions in the skin, and the follow-up of at-risk patients at the University Hospital Department ofDermatology in Pilsen.
