Treatment of Dentin Hypersensi-tivity with the Preparation Seal and Protect

Overview
The authors evaluated clinically the effect of preparation Seal and Protect of DeTrey Dentsply Co. on hypersensitive dentin. In 37 patients with 150 treated teeth they resultsdemonstrated a marked decline of hypersensitivity within a time interval of 1 and 3 months.On a check-up examination after 1 month complaints receded in 137 teeth, 13 remained withouteffect or a relapse occurred within a short time. After 3 months improvement persisted in 108teeth, a relapse occurred in 42. A check-up after 6 months revealed restored sensitivity in 127teeth The material is a further alternative for clinical practice. More permanent improvementcan be achieved by repeated application after 3–4-month intervals.
