Overview

Authors are presenting two case - reports, where co-existence of three syn-dromes was in the foreground of the clinical picture, parkinsonism, parano-id-hallucinatory psychosis and cognitive impairment. Presence of these threesyndromes made us suspect possible dementia with Lewy bodies (Lewy bodydementia, DLB). The authors compare features of both patients with thediagnostic criteria of possible and probable DLB. At the same time theyconsider signs, which do not belong to the diagnostic criteria, but occur inthe case of DLB more likely than in other types of dementia and which couldhelp to differentiate DLB and other diseases. Although both patients meetthe diagnostic criteria for probable DLB, the authors emphasize doubts inboth cases. The conclusion is devoted to a special group of problems with thetreatment of such diseases with manifestation of the three above mentionedsyndromes.

Key words:
parkinsonism, paranoid-hallucinatory psychosis, cognitive impa-irment, dementia with Lewy bodies.
