Overview

The authors describe a case of a 37-year-old man with red-brown nodules on the upper half of his trunk and his limbs. Based on the clinical presentation, histopathological examination, laboratory examinations and imaging methods, nodular skin sarcoidosis in coincidence with pulmonary involvement was diagnosed. The patient was treated with systemic and external corticosteroids. This therapy initially induced remission of the disease, however the disease recurred. Combined immunosuppressive treatment with prednisone and methotrexate induced remission of the disease. The authors provide an overview of current knowledge of sarcoidosis.
