Overview
The International Personality Disorder Examination (IPDE) is a semistructured clinical interviewcompatible with the ICD-10 and DSM-IV. The fi rst Czech report about the IPDE describes experiencefrom two samples – mixed psychiatric patients mainly with mood disorders (N = 100, average age 36yrs, SD = 12.3; 18 - 67 yrs; 42 men and 58 women) and controls (N = 52; average age 37 yrs; SD = 11.7 - 66yrs; 25 men and 27 women). Fourteen psychiatric patients were rated as suffering from at least onepersonality disorder (PD), 23 patients were rated as affected by at least one probable PD. The mostcommon PD was emotionally unstable PD – borderline (7 patients), anxious (6 patient) and schizoid (5patients). Controls differ in lower rate of defi nitive and probable diagnosis and in dimensional score. The IPDE is an important advantage in personality disorder diagnostics. The increasing impact ofthe IPDE improves the validity and reliability of PD diagnostics.
