Side-effects of Antidepressants in Out-patient Care

Overview

The author deals with side-effects of antidepressants in 498 out-patients treated in the MilitaryHospital in Olomouc. The side-effects frequency of the antidepressants of the first generation was40.6%, of the second generation 48.1%, of the third generation 22.4%, of the fourth generation12.5% and of IMAO 34.7%. Occurrence of side-effects found in this study was compared to findingsin literature. In our sample the antidepressants with better tolerance were used more often thanmedicaments with a higher occurrence of side-ffects. The antidepressants of the third generation and IMAO are becoming drugs of first choice for outatients.
