Overview

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is an algorithm of simple and logical set of actions during acute onset of cardiac arrest, which should lead to fast restoration of delivery of oxygenated blood to brain. CPR on elderly patients has some specific features and there are often complications during CPR. Moreover, another problem is how to decide whether to initiate CPR on elderly patients with many comorbidities. In this case report a history of a geriatric patient is described, who underwent repeated CPR for cardiac arrest after anaphylactic shock, followed by acute myocardial infarction. Follow-up treatment was managed by standard care at the Department of Internal Medicine, where she underwent rehabilitation and was discharged from the hospital to home care.
